Sensur Lotion is a topical analgesic counterirritant preparation, typically formulated with agents such as Menthol, Camphor, and Methyl Salicylate. These active components work through counterirritation, where stimulation of cutaneous nerve endings produces a cooling and warming sensation that helps mask underlying musculoskeletal pain. Menthol activates cold receptors, camphor acts as a mild local analgesic and rubefacient, while methyl salicylate exerts anti-inflammatory effects via inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of muscle pain, backache, joint pain, sprains, strains, and minor sports injuries. Sensur Rub is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to salicylates or any topical components, and should not be applied to broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes.
Use with caution in patients with sensitive skin, children, and those on prolonged or excessive application, due to risk of skin irritation or systemic absorption (especially salicylates). Common adverse effects may include local redness, burning sensation, or allergic reactions.
