Apidone Syrup contains chlorpheniramine maleate (H1-antihistamine) and dexamethasone (corticosteroid). Chlorpheniramine acts by blocking H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and rhinorrhea, while dexamethasone suppresses inflammatory mediators and immune responses, reducing edema and hypersensitivity reactions. It is indicated for the management of allergic rhinitis, urticaria, pruritic skin disorders, and moderate to severe allergic or inflammatory conditions where corticosteroid therapy is warranted. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to components, systemic fungal infections, and those receiving live vaccines.

Use is recommended for short-term, physician-directed therapy, with caution in pediatric and elderly patients, and in those with diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, or active infections due to corticosteroid-related risks. The combination may cause sedation and anticholinergic effects (chlorpheniramine), while prolonged use may lead to adrenal suppression and immunosuppression (dexamethasone).
