Levobact 750 Tablet contains Levofloxacin 750 mg (fluoroquinolone antibiotic). Levofloxacin exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication, transcription, and repair. It is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain gastrointestinal infections. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolones, history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use, and in children or pregnancy unless clearly indicated.
This high-strength formulation supports once-daily dosing with broad-spectrum coverage, making it suitable for serious infections requiring potent therapy. Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose adjustment required), CNS disorders (risk of seizures), and those at risk of QT prolongation. Notable adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, QT prolongation, and risk of tendinitis or tendon rupture, particularly in elderly patients or those on corticosteroids.
